All full-time faculty in the Steinhardt School are invited to apply for the Griffiths Research Award. Established in 1983, the award honors former Steinhardt Dean Daniel E. Griffiths, a scholar and academic leader committed to advancing knowledge through research.
The prize recognizes faculty whose research advances their fields of knowledge and professional practice. Awarded annually in the amount of $1,000, it is presented to the faculty member–or collaborating group of faculty members–whose work was published or accepted for publication within the previous five calendar years and meets the following criteria:
- The research has the potential to make a significant contribution to the applicant’s field.
- The research represents an innovative breakthrough or major advancement in knowledge, method, design, theory, or practice.
Eligible works include books, book chapters, and journal articles.
To Apply
All eligible faculty are encouraged to apply. Awardee(s) may be invited to present their research at a Steinhardt faculty meeting during the following academic year.
Applicants should submit an electronic copy of their scholarly work (e.g., chapters, journal articles, or books) for committee review. Applicants should also include a statement of no more than 250 words that provides context for the work and addresses the criteria described above.
