How to Apply

Before beginning an application, review the available program options and meet with your academic advisor to ensure that the study abroad course you plan to participate in meets your degree requirements and is a good fit for your plan of study. If you receive financial aid, you are strongly encouraged to contact the Office of Financial Aid to discuss your anticipated course registration in your study abroad term and to understand how your financial aid package will apply.

Current NYU Students

  • Go to the Current NYU Students application. Enter your Net ID and password and complete the Duo push process.
  • Once you have logged in, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the "Start New Application" button.
  • Select the Global Affairs application from the dropdown menu. Click Create Application, then click Open Application.

Visiting Students

  • Go to the visiting student application. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the "Create an account" button under the "First-time users" section.
  • Enter the requested details, then click “Continue.” A PIN number will be sent to the email address you submitted. Enter the PIN and re-enter your date of birth, then click “Login.” Create a password.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the "Start New Application" button.
  • Select the Global Affairs application from the dropdown menu. Click “Create Application,” then click “Open Application.”

Application Deadlines and Notification Timelines

  • Application opens: August 2024
  • Priority application round (all students are strongly encouraged to apply by this deadline to receive priority consideration):
    • Application deadline: Tuesday, September 17
      • This is the only application deadline for the Nashville and Cuba programs. All applications for these programs must be received by this date to be considered
    • Applicants receive notification of their status: Thursday, October 3
    • Deadline to accept or decline the offer to participate: Thursday, October 10
  • Regular application round:
    • Application deadline: Thursday, October 17
    • Applicants receive notification of their status: Wednesday, October 23
    • Deadline to accept or decline the offer to participate: Wednesday, October 30

Admissions continue following the regular round deadline on a space-available basis.

  • Application opens: December 2024
  • Priority application round (all students are strongly encouraged to apply by this deadline to receive priority consideration):
    • Application deadline: Wednesday, February 5
    • Applicants receive notification of their status: Thursday, February 20
    • Deadline to accept or decline the offer to participate: Thursday, February 27
  • Regular application round:
    • Application deadline: Wednesday, March 5
    • Applicants receive notification of their status: Thursday, March 13
    • Deadline to accept or decline the offer to participate: Thursday, March 20

Admissions continue following the regular round deadline on a space-available basis.

Scholarships

Study abroad can be financially accessible. Learn more about our need-based scholarship and other funding opportunities for graduate-level study abroad on the Graduate Study Abroad Scholarships page. Interested students should complete the scholarship application immediately after submitting their study abroad application to ensure they receive a timely scholarship notification.
