How to Apply
- Before beginning an application, review the available short-term program options (graduate | undergraduate) and choose the program that best fits your academic, professional, and personal interests.
- Meet with your academic advisor to ensure that your chosen study abroad course is a good fit for your plan of study.
- If you receive financial aid, contact the Office of Financial Aid to share your anticipated course registration in your study abroad term and understand how your financial aid package will apply.
- Once you have completed these steps, follow the instructions below to apply to the program of your choice.
Current NYU Students
- Go to the NYU student application. Sign in using your NetID and password.
- Once you have logged in, click the "Start New Application" button.
- Select the Global Affairs application from the dropdown menu. Click Create Application, then Open Application.
Visiting Students
- Go to the visiting student application. Click the "Create an account" link under the "First-time users" section.
- Enter the requested details, then click “Continue.” A PIN number will be sent to you by email. Enter the PIN and your date of birth, then click “Login.” Create a password.
- Click the "Start New Application" button.
- Select the Global Affairs application from the dropdown menu. Click Create Application, then Open Application.

Scholarships
Study abroad can be financially accessible. NYU Steinhardt offers two scholarships for short-term program participants:
- Global Need-Based Scholarship: Open to NYU Steinhardt graduate and undergraduate students participating in a short-term, travel-based Global course for credit
- Astor Study Abroad Scholarship for NYC Teachers: Open to NYU Steinhardt students who are also full-time teachers in the New York City public school system and pursuing a Steinhardt study abroad opportunity
More information and the application instructions for each scholarship can be found on the pages linked above. Interested students should complete the scholarship application(s) immediately after submitting their study abroad application to ensure they receive a timely scholarship notification.
Participants are also encouraged to review the list of external (non-NYU) funding opportunities maintained by the Office of Global Affairs.
