Or you could collaborate with the NYU Contemporary Music Ensemble, a group of passionate instrumentalists who perform student film scores every semester. You might write for the NYU Percussion Ensemble, diving into endless combinations of percussion instruments or score a silent film for the UnSilent Film concert.
To be directly involved in organizing performance opportunities, you can join the student-led NYU Composers’ Collective, who host informal events including movie nights, mixers and formal concerts celebrating the eclectic voices of the NYU Steinhardt Composition programs. Showcasing everything from chamber music and film scores to musical theater and solo pieces, you can build your leadership and communication skills as a composer through the club’s entrepreneurial approach to event organization.
