Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, NYU Choral Arts offerings are reduced for the Fall 2021 semester. Only one ensemble, NYU Chorale, will be offered — and in a completely online format. Unfortunately, Women’s Choir, University Singers, NYU A Cappella Choir, and NYU Jazz Choir will not be offered in the Fall 2021 semester.
The Jazz Choir is an ensemble of 20 vocalists, under the direction of Dylan Pramuk. Their repertoire represents a wide range of jazz and contemporary periods and styles.
Who Can Join
All choruses are open to the NYU community (students, faculty, and staff) and community at large, by audition
Auditions are taking place on the evening of Monday, January 27, 2020, starting at 6:45 pm.
The audition will consist of
- A vocal solo, chosen by the singer; please prepare a 1-minute excerpt of a medium/uptempo song. The song can be in any style. The song is expected to be sung with piano accompaniment; an accompanist will be provided. Please bring a lead sheet or score for the pianist (a photocopy is fine). Improvisation is welcome but not required.
- Sight singing
The only thing you need to bring to your audition is a lead sheet or score for the pianist
Jazz Choir meets Mondays and Thursdays from 6:45 - 8:15pm.
Performances and Concerts
Jazz Choir presents at least two concerts each semester.
