The 34-credit MA in Teacher of Dance (Professional Certification) uniquely provides certified dance teachers with expanded dance and pedagogical training, allowing you to hone your skills as a dance educator by exploring the integration of mind and body in the context of cultural dance practice.

Core Course Sequence

You’ll take core courses in movement analysis, dance history, culture, and pedagogy, as well fieldwork placements in dance education. These foundational courses are complemented by elective studies of specific dance styles like jazz, West African dance, Afro-Caribbean dance, and hip hop, as well as movement therapy and community building.
