MA in Educational Theatre in Colleges and Communities (EDTC)The curriculum for this program is divided into three primary categories of courses: foundations and research (12 credits), discipline content study (12 credits), and pathway (9 credits). For foundations and research, students are introduced to core concepts in educational theatre and both arts-based and qualitative research. For discipline content study, students are meant to develop mastery of general theatre skills and concepts. Finally, in the pathway, students specialize their program of study in one of three areas: drama in education, applied theatre, or theatre for artists and educators. Most courses are selected in consultation with the academic advisor building towards the culminating experience, which is your final capstone experience in the program which must be fulfilled with a 3-credit course, independent study, or practicum. Sample Course Sequence – Full Time StudyA full time student will complete 12 credits of coursework each semester which may or may not include the summer session. Our summer session offers a few courses that are only offered at that time; as such, many students elect to avail themselves of these unique opportunities for concentrated study.
