The 15-credit Advanced Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages provides you with hands-on instruction in English language and applied linguistics, equipping you with advanced pedagogical training to teach English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) in the US and internationally. You’ll take classes in the theory and practice of teaching second languages, teaching adults, and the structure of American English, as well as a supervised practicum experience in TESOL or world language education at the adult or college level. Credits earned in the advanced certificate program can be transferred into the MA TESOL program at NYU.
