To best meet the needs of our students, we have decided to suspend enrollment for the on-campus modality. We encourage you to explore our online MA in School Counseling and Bilingual School Counseling

A valuable resource for vulnerable children and their families, school counselors help students achieve their goals. In this master of arts program, you’ll get the education and clinical training to become a professional K–12 school counselor, working in public and private schools, colleges, and community agencies. Graduates are eligible for New York State certification as guidance counselors, and are prepared to take the examination to become a national certified counselor. You may choose to concentrate your degree on bilingual school populations. Students interested in the bilingual concentration must be able to participate in required supervised fieldwork within the five boroughs of New York City.

This program is accredited by the Master’s in Psychology and Counseling Accreditation Council (MPCAC) for 2015 through 2025. Graduates of this program meet the academic requirements for licensure in the state of New York. Each state sets their own policies, regulations, and standards for licensure. If you intend to pursue licensure in a state other than New York, you should consult our Licensure page for more information on whether our program meets the academic requirements for licensure in that state and whether there is additional coursework you may need to complete to meet that state’s requirements.

An online option is also available for this degree. The online program offers rolling admissions.
