Research Description/bio: Jason is a second year Ph.D student in the Sociology of Education program. He received a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies Education at NYU Steinhardt and an M.A. at Teachers College, Columbia University. Jason served as a Social Studies Teacher within the NYC Public school system and have taught in the Bronx and Queens. His work revolves around using social justice based learning and Critical theory within the classroom to have students create meaning to their communities and worlds around them.
Being a teacher in the largest public school district in the country, Jason became more passionate about how he can rebuild and innovate new modes of thinking surrounding equity and inclusion as well as student activism within education. He plans to construct his research using organizational and critical based theories. Recently, Jason has been working on coauthoring a book publication that focuses on educational leadership with Dr. Anindya Kundu. In his free time, Jason loves watching K-dramas and anime as well as taking my Shiba Inu to his favorite dog park.
