Research Description/bio:
I am a first year Ph.D student in the Sociology of Education program. I received my Bachelor of Science in Social Studies Education at NYU Steinhardt and my M.A at Teachers College, Columbia University. I currently serve as a Social Studies Teacher within the NYC Public school system and have taught in the Bronx and currently in Queens. My work revolves around using social justice based learning and Critical theory within the classroom to have students create meaning to their communities and worlds around them.
Being a teacher in the largest public school district in the country, I became more passionate about how I can rebuild and innovate new modes of thinking surrounding equity and inclusion as well as student activism within education. I plan to construct my research using organizational and critical based theories.
In my free time, I love watching K-dramas and anime as well as taking my Shiba Inu to his favorite dog park.
