Foreign Language Education

Our programs in Foreign Language education are designed for prospective and practicing teachers of foreign languages, heads of departments, supervisors, and directors of foreign language programs in local and international contexts. Our programs prepare you with a firm foundation in the target language, language and literacy development, and applied linguistics to meet the needs of students from diverse educational and ethnic backgrounds.

BS, Foreign Language Education, Grades 7–12, Initial Certification

Train to teach Chinese, French, Italian, Japanese, or Spanish in the US or abroad through intensive language study, pedagogy courses, and student teaching.

MA, Foreign Language Education/Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, Dual Certification

Broaden your career options by becoming eligible for both New York initial teaching certification in a foreign language and TESOL.

Students and Teacher

MA, Foreign Language Education, College and Adults, Non-Certification

Prepare for a career teaching a foreign language to adult learners by studying pedagogy and applied linguistics, as well as completing a practicum internship.

Meeting

MA, Foreign Language Education, Grades 7–12, Initial Certification

Prepare to teach secondary Chinese, French, Italian, Japanese, or Spanish in diverse settings, leading to eligibility for New York initial teaching certification.
