Research Description/Bio: Kailee Kodama Muscente is a doctoral student in the Counseling/Clinical Psychology program at New York University and a clinical extern at Mount Sinai Morningside CARES. Her research interests lie at the intersection of youth mental health, parent-child relationships, and culturally tailored interventions. Her current scholarship reviews parent-directed interventions for Asian families and explores appropriate cultural adaptations. Additionally, she investigates the efficacy of brief interventions in treating childhood disruptive behaviors. Her prior research explored the impact of parent-child interactions on caregiver mental health and youth development, and sought ways to improve access and retention in mental health services for minority populations.

Prior to joining NYU, Kailee was a research assistant for the Culture and Health Promotion of Minority Youth and Families lab at Teachers College, Columbia University, where she studied the mental health and well-being of Asian American parents. She also partnered with researchers at George Mason University to explore the impacts of parenting on leadership development. Her past clinical experiences include training at NYU's Center for Counseling and Community Wellbeing, Jersey City Medical Center’s Child Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization department, and servicing behavioral and socio-emotional therapy to youth with developmental disorders.

Kailee received her B.A. in Psychology from Pepperdine University, her Ed.M. in Counseling Psychology, and M.A. in Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University.
