Receive a powerful blend of conservatory-level training and direct access to New York City’s vibrant professional music scene. Students study with faculty who perform with the New York Philharmonic, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, and on Broadway, gaining mentorship from artists working at the highest levels. The curriculum combines rigorous orchestral preparation with opportunities in commercial, jazz, Broadway, and contemporary music.
Collaboration with Steinhardt's Screen Scoring, Music Technology, Jazz, and Composition programs provides hands-on recording experience, film projects, and new-music premieres, while ensembles on campus showcase core classical repertoire.
Career development resources—including audition coaching, résumé and portfolio support, and networking with New York’s contractors and ensemble leaders—are built into the program. Graduate with the skills, networks, and versatility to succeed in orchestras, Broadway pits, studios, and beyond.
