Audition Dates
Early Decision I
Audition deadline is November 20, 2024.
Early Decision II
Audition deadline is January 6, 2025.
Regular Decision
Auditions will be held in the following dates: February 22 and 23, 2025.
Should you be unable to attend a live audition at NYU, applicants may submit audition videos via GetAcceptd. Please review the deadlines for Early Decision 1, Early Decision 2 and Regular Decision applicants. You must submit your audition video online by the dates indicated.
Additional Notes
Though NYU’s deadline for Spring transfer admission is November 1 and our deadline for Summer/Fall transfer admission is April 1, we suggest that you submit your Common Application one month in advance. Submitting your Common Application early will leave you more time to schedule an audition by our deadlines noted above.
Live Audition Requirements
All applicants are required to complete the audition form to sign up for a live audition.
Trumpet:
- Two contrasting etudes showing the applicant’s level of technical and musical advancement.
- At least one major solo work from the standard solo literature.
- Four contrasting orchestral excerpts from the standard audition repertoire
- Major scales covering one to two octaves if possible
- Possible sight-reading
Horn:
- Two contrasting etudes showing the applicant’s level of technical and musical advancement.
- Exposition of a Mozart or Strauss concerto or equivalent solo from the current repertoire list.
- Four contrasting orchestral excerpts from standard the audition repertoire
- Major scales covering one to two octaves if possible
- Possible sight-reading
Tenor Trombone & Bass Trombone:
- Two contrasting etudes showing the applicant’s level of technical and musical advancement.
- At least one major solo work from the standard solo literature.
- Four contrasting orchestral excerpts from the standard audition repertoire
- Major scales covering one to two octaves if possible
- Possible sight-reading
Euphonium & Tuba:
- Two contrasting etudes showing the applicant’s level of technical and musical advancement.
- At least one major solo work from the standard solo literature.
- Four contrasting orchestral excerpts from standard audition repertoire (Tuba applicants only)
- Major scales covering one to two octaves if possible
- Possible sight-reading
