Administration and Finance

Administration and Finance manage and coordinate key operational areas that ensure Steinhardt functions efficiently and effectively. The division is composed of five main units: Strategic Initiatives, Human Resources (SHR), Technology Services (STS), Facilities Administrative Services (SFAS), and Finance. These teams collaborate to provide essential support that advances the School’s mission to faculty, staff, and students.

Human Resources (SHR)

The Steinhardt HR team manages all personnel-related processes to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant human resources and payroll services for adjuncts, students, and staff. 

Their responsibilities include:

  • Processing new hires, job changes, and terminations.
  • Coordinating payroll and timekeeping
  • Maintaining employee records.
  • Ensuring adherence to university policies and employment regulations.
  • Supporting professional development and performance management initiatives for staff, adjunct faculty, and student employees.

By partnering with Steinhardt departments and central offices, Steinhardt Human Resources (SHR) is dedicated to delivering efficient, compliant services that support the school’s mission, while streamlining HR related processes and fosters a supportive environment for faculty, staff, and students.

Facilities Administrative Services (SFAS)

The Steinhardt Facilities Administrative Services team oversees the planning, allocation, and maintenance of physical spaces within the Steinhardt School.

Their responsibilities include:

  • Managing office assignments, common areas, and specialized facilities spaces to ensure they meet the school’s operational and academic needs.
  • Maintaining office & general space usage data while ensuring compliance with university-wide facilities policies.
  • Overseeing school capital improvement projects
  • Serving as the primary liaison between the school, Facilities Capital Management (FCM), and other central facilities partners, facilitating communication and collaboration.

The SFAS team is dedicated to maintaining safe, efficient, and welcoming spaces that enhance the experience of students, faculty, and staff.

Finance

The Steinhardt Finance team plays a vital role in supporting the school’s mission by managing various financial functions.

Their responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing departmental budgeting and strategic financial planning.
  • Managing accounting, procurement, and comprehensive financial reporting.
  • Ensuring compliance with university policies, regulatory standards, and donor requirements, while providing transparent and accurate financial stewardship.
  • Acting as a liaison between the school, university budget offices, and department leadership—including administrative directors and chairs—to facilitate clear communication and align resources with academic and operational priorities.

The Steinhardt Finance team is committed to delivering responsive, accurate, and compliant financial services that help the school and departments achieve their academic and operational goals.

Technology Services (STS)

The Steinhardt Technology Services (STS) team provides technical support and solutions for faculty, staff, and students, ensuring reliable access to systems, networks, and digital tools.

Their responsibilities include:

  • Managing school-specific technology infrastructure to support teaching, research, and administrative needs.
  • Coordinating with central IT to deliver consistent and efficient technology services.
  • Supporting the implementation and maintenance of digital tools that enhance academic, research, and operational activities.
  • Providing troubleshooting, guidance, and training to ensure smooth use of technology resources.

The STS team is dedicated to fostering an innovative, dependable, user-friendly technology environment for the Steinhardt community.

Strategic Initiatives
