Research Description/Bio: Anna Hillary is a doctoral candidate in International Education. Her research centers on education social movements, especially those which challenge predominant conceptions of learning and mobilize around community-based governance. She is currently examining students' organization of the secondary school occupations in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the role that history plays in their motivation, and the learning that takes place over the course of their actions.
Prior to doctoral study, Anna taught at Facing History School, a public high school in NYC, and worked with educational, environmental, and arts organizations in the U.S., Argentina, and Mexico. She received a BA in Political Science and International Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MSed in Spanish Bilingual Education from the City College of New York. While at NYU, Anna has served as instructor and teaching assistant for courses related to education, globalization, human rights, international activism, and critical social theory. She served as Assistant Editor of Psychology of Women Quarterly from 2015-2019. In 2020, Anna received a Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad fellowship to conduct her dissertation research in Argentina.
