Student Teaching in New York City Schools
In your junior year, you will visit schools and observe practicing teachers in the classroom. In your senior year, you'll complete two semesters of student teaching in a public middle school and a public high school affiliated with our program, under the supervision of experienced mathematics teachers and our own faculty.
Focus on State-of-the-Art Teaching Methods
Study current developments in mathematics teaching as a context for reflecting on and thinking critically about your own teaching practice. Our curriculum integrates the latest recommendations from mathematics teaching organizations and national commissions on ways to improve mathematics education.
A Variety of Academic Resources
Special resources available to you in the program include the internationally renowned NYU Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, and the University’s numerous microcomputer centers. You'll be a part of a strong, supportive learning community and work with a range of students preparing to teach other secondary school subjects.
