C. Michael Nina, PhD is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the State of New York, and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of New Jersey. He received a PhD in Counseling Psychology from NYU, a MA degree in School Guidance Counseling from Queens College/CUNY, a BA degree from Columbia University, and Certification in Psychoanalysis and Advanced Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the Post-Graduate Program in the Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies at Adelphi University.
Dr. Nina maintains a full-time private practice in New York City. He was formerly the Assistant Director of the Career Counseling Center at Baruch College/CUNY and Assistant Professor of Psychology at William Paterson University.
At NYU, Dr. Nina has served as the Coordinator of Experiential Skills Training for the MA Programs in Counseling, and served as Director of Clinical Training for the PhD Program in Counseling Psychology.
Dr. Nina was honored with the Teaching Excellence Award for Adjunct Faculty in 2002. In addition, he received the 2006 Mitchell Leaska Dissertation Research Award for outstanding dissertation proposal. Dr. Nina was honored as the 2007 Doctoral Convocation Invited Speaker, where he was recognized for “Outstanding Academic Achievement, Leadership and Service to NYU.”
Courses taught by Dr. Nina, include: Career Counseling, Dynamics of Vocational Development, Individual Counseling Theories, Personality Theories, Group Counseling, Individual Counseling Skills (Labs One and Two), Abnormal Psychology, Substance Abuse Counseling, and Human Development.
