MAT, Students with Disabilities, Grades 7–12, Initial Certification | Transformational Teaching

The 30-credit MAT in Teaching Students with Disabilities (Initial Certification) equips you with the tools and training to teach social studies in urban settings for students with disabilities and other learning challenges. 

Core Course Sequence

You’ll take pedagogical core courses in inquiries in teaching and learning, adolescent learners in urban contexts, and issues in special education policy. You’ll participate in workshops in world language education, two semesters of mentored student teaching, and a specialized content core exploring education students with disabilities in middle childhood and adolescence, methods of instruction for children with low incidence disabilities, and learning environments and assessments for students with disabilities.
