Internships in Performing Arts Administration

Internships in Performing Arts Administration

Students in the Performing Arts Administration program are required to complete six credits of internships at arts organizations, beginning in their second semester of study. Students meet this requirement by successfully completing either two 20-hour per week semester-long internships or one 40-hour per week semester-long internship. Working with their internship site supervisor and Professor Maloney, students create an internship description that addresses their career goals and objectives. Several written papers are required, including a reflective self-assessment, an organizational analysis, and a journal of the internship experience.

Students have recently completed internships at the following organizations: American Ballet Theatre, Manhattan Theatre Club, Metropolitan Opera Association, New York Philharmonic (education department), Brooklyn Academy of Music (institutional fundraising), New York Foundation for the Arts (finance and programming), Paul Taylor Company (marketing), and the Atlantic Theater Company (marketing).
