Student Experience

Aysegul is a first year PhD student in the SCSS program. Her research spans psychometrics, artificial intelligence, statistical methodology, and causal inference, focusing on evaluating LLM-backed assessment tools such as automated essay scoring, feedback systems, and automatic item generation to support equitable educational measurement and inform education policy.

Kaushik Mohan is a Ph.D student in the Statistics and Computational Social Science program at NYU. His research sits at the intersection of machine learning and social policy, where he develops tools to analyze the complexities of human trajectories, including career paths, life courses, and interactions with the criminal justice system.

George is a first year PhD student in the SCSS program. He is particularly interested in bridging gaps between causal inference and psychometrics.

Abiraahmi is a first-year doctoral student who works at the intersection of qualitative and quantitative research, developing mixed-methods workflows and computational tools to study questions spanning holistic development, mental health and suicide prevention.

Muskan Walia is a second-year PhD student in SCSS. Her research focuses on the development of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and scientific computing methods in collaboration with government agencies to tackle pressing social issues and improve institutional decision-making processes.
