Research description/bio:
Caroline Moy is a first-year PhD student in the SCSS program at NYU. She has broad research interests spanning causal evaluation of progressive policy, using LLMs and syntax analysis to study racial relations, and the design and implementation of social science experiments. Caroline earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Statistics and Spanish and a Master’s of Science in Applied Statistics from the University of Michigan. Her interdisciplinary focus grew out of her education and past research experiences: work with the University of Michigan American Studies department's Virulent Hate team, which studies anti-Asian hate crimes in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic; her partnership with Los Alamos National Laboratory developing river temperature forecasts to inform salmon fishery policy; and collaboration with the University of Michigan's Graham Institute helping non-profits expand their reach and implement circular economy systems.
