Research Description/Bio:
Aysegul Gunduz is a Ph.D. student in Applied Statistics and Computational Social Science at NYU Steinhardt. She holds a Master of Education in Measurement, Evaluation, and Data Science from the University of Alberta and a Bachelor's degree in High School Mathematics Teacher Education from Dokuz Eylul University. Her research spans psychometrics, artificial intelligence, statistical methodology, and causal inference, focusing on evaluating LLM-backed assessment tools such as automated essay scoring, feedback systems, and automatic item generation to support equitable educational measurement and inform education policy. Prior to her doctoral studies, Aysegul served as a research scientist and mathematics teacher contributing to AI in education policies at the Ministry of National Education in Turkiye, and held teaching assistant positions at the University of Alberta.
