The 32-credit MA in Teaching Music (All Grades) prepares music educators to recognize, honor, and integrate the diverse cultural backgrounds of students into meaningful music learning experiences, fostering equity, inclusion, and relevance in the classroom.
Course Sequence
You'll take specialized courses in music education that integrate musicianship, pedagogy, culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogies, and technology while preparing to teach general, choral, and/or instrumental music. The program culminates in two semesters of hands-on student teaching, where you'll produce a professional portfolio of lesson plans, student work, and teaching videos, while also demonstrating a holistic understanding of your development as an artist-educator and articulating your vision for future practice.
