In 1969 New York University’s Department of French Literature, Thought and Culture created an opportunity for NYU students to spend time perfecting their French language skills while studying in France. That opportunity is now NYU’s four floor academic facility located in the Latin Quarter — one of the most popular areas for university students in Paris.
At the NYU Paris center, a full-time administrative staff coordinate the academic program (courses, lectures, and co-curricular trips). Courses are taught by leading local academics, scholars, artists, writers, and professionals who are appointed by the academic department from the New York campus. Courses and grades earned at NYU Paris appear on NYU’s transcript and are counted toward the student’s grade point average.
Approximately 250 students are enrolled at NYU Paris each semester. All students are assigned housing by NYU in either a residence hall or in a home with local Parisians. Tuition in Paris is the same as tuition New York.
