All prospective and transfer students must apply for admission to NYU Steinhardt. Apply for undergraduate study.

Audition Deadlines

Early Decision I

Early Decision I applicants must submit their audition videos through GetAcceptd. A pianist is not required for the audition video. Prescreening is not required for EDI applicants.

Video Audition Due: November 1, 2025

Early Decision II

Early Decision II applicants must submit their audition videos through GetAcceptd. A pianist is not required for the audition video. Prescreening is not required for EDII applicants.

Video Audition Due: January 1, 2026

Regular Decision

Regular Decision applicants are required to submit a prescreening video through GetAcceptd. A pianist is not required for the prescreening video.

Invitations to schedule a live audition will be sent by January 2026. A pianist is not required for the live audition.

Prescreening: December 1, 2025
Live Audition: February 21-22, 2026

Transfer Students

Though NYU's deadline for Spring transfer admission is October 15 and our deadline for Summer/Fall transfer admission is March 15, we suggest that you submit your Common Application one month in advance. Submitting your Common Application early will leave you more time to schedule an audition by our deadlines above.

Prescreening and Audition

Flute 
Two contrasting selections (selections may include an individual movement from different works or single movements works)

Oboe 
Two contrasting selections (selections may include an individual movement from different works or single movements works)

Clarinet 
Two contrasting movements from a standard concerto or sonata 
One etude
Two orchestral excerpts

Bassoon 
Two contrasting selections (selections may include an individual movement from different works or single movements works)

Saxophone 
Two contrasting selections (selections may include an individual movement from different works or single movements works)
