Receive a full liberal arts education in a conservatory setting. Throughout your degree program, you will complete a range of liberal arts core courses, including introductory study of the humanities, social sciences, science, and quantitative reasoning, as well as complete core music classes, including music history, music theory, aural comprehension, and keyboard harmony and improvisation. You may also tailor your degree through electives and internships in music business, music technology, jazz studies, and music education, among other areas.

Our resident ensembles offer extraordinary opportunities to interact and perform with leading instrumentalists and artists. Six chamber music concerts each year give you a chance to play in quintets, quartets, and trios as well as with other mixed ensembles taught by our leading chamber music faculty. The NYU orchestras present several concerts each year, including performances by concerto competition winners. Orchestral experiences are also available through our fully staged opera, music theatre productions, and recording studio dates and film scoring projects produced by leading Broadway and major opera company music directors. You will also present recitals in your junior and senior years.

Through your numerous opportunities for performance and collaboration, you will begin to prepare for a fulfilling career as a working artist. Whatever the career path you envision, we will provide you with the expertise and opportunities necessary to realize your dreams.
