Collegium & Program Sem

This course is required of all Steinhardt Music Majors studying on the program. The aim of Collegium is to provide music students with a variety of experiences which reflect the local musical history and culture. The course uses lectures, field trips, and concerts to acquaint students with local music and culture. The exact format and content of this course varies by location.

Colloqium in Workplace Education

Analysis of the changing nature of workplace and workforce education.The colloquium examines such educational issues as workplace literacy, the corporate university, and government legislation and policies. Colloquy in Music Education (Thesis Requirement)

Master’s thesis preparation and presentation class taken for two semesters. First semester students research topics in music education, create an annotated bibliography, complete human subjects ethics training, and prepare a capstone project proposal. Second semester students complete a capstone research project based on reflective practice inquiry and creation methods. Focus on academic writing, research methods, use testing with learners, data analysis, oral presentation techniques. Guest presentations about published papers and theses.
