International Development & Education: Theory & Practice

Focuses on developing familiarity, engagement, and critical reflection with some of the most pressing questions in international development today, including definitions and theories of development; international development aid and actors; local and international priorities; and the future of international development. This course uses Italy and the Mediterranean diet as a case study to examine and write about food and nutrition from historical, journalistic, political, health, agricultural, cultural, and culinary perspectives. This third term of internship requires a minimum of 200 hours of supervised counseling experience in an approved mental health setting and participation in a weekly university seminar. Student internship sites include community mental health agencies, chemical dependency treatment programs, college counseling centers, hospital settings, hospice programs, special programs for abused women and victims of violence, among others. Internship in Dance

This course is designed for graduate dance students in the Professions track and the Professions with ABT track. This is an opportunity to gain supervised experience in a variety of dance-related areas in professional organizations and settings. This internship would require 50 contact hours with the opportunity to gain experience applying the concepts and skills you have learned thus far in your course work. Students are responsible for securing their own internship with guidance from Dance Ed. faculty. Family members cannot supervise you at your internship site.

Internship in Drama Therapy

This course prepares students to engage in the process of clinical internship. In this practicum course students will synthesizes their clinical readings from the lecture portion of Internship in Drama Therapy with on-site internship experience. This processing will occur through the use of action methods like role-playing, projective techniques, and psychodramatic techniques as well as conversation/reflection to explore relevant issues in the treatment process. The internship will occur at two different clinical settings but not limit to hospitals, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, special education facilities, prisons, day treatment programs, and acute care facilities. Students work with on-site supervisors with whom they meet regularly, and a classroom teacher who guides them through a range of clinical issues including transference and contrertransference, parallel process, diagnosis and evaluation, and professional orientation and ethic in the profession of drama therapy.
