When completing your graduate application for admission, please be sure to use your full, legal name as it appears on your passport. All international applicants must have an international address as their permanent address. Financial documents should not be submitted with your graduate application for admission.
Students who are admitted to a full time, in-person program may be eligible for an F-1 or J-1 student visa. Detailed instructions on how to start the process are located on the Office of Global Services’ Before You Arrive webpage.
If you’re currently in the US at another school or recently completed your program at another US school and need to transfer your immigration record to NYU, please review the Office of Global Services' instructions to transfer to NYU.
The Office of Global Services recommends starting this process at least 3-4 months before the program begins.
For immigration or visa related questions, please contact the Office of Global Services.
A Special Note for Online Programs
Online programs do not generally qualify for visa sponsorship through NYU but some online programs with a full time in-person immersion or residency may qualify for visa sponsorship. Please check with your program to determine if it qualifies for visa sponsorship
