Dr. Michael McCutcheon has taught at NYU since 2011. As an instructor in the Department of Applied Psychology, he has twice received departmental honors for teaching excellence (2014 and 2019). He has taught both undergraduate and master's students, most recently leading courses in professional orientation and ethics, the foundations of mental health counseling, group dynamics, and individual counseling skills.
Recognized as an expert in personal development and emerging workforce trends, he has provided commentary for various mainstream publications, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Post. He has also served as a contributing writer for Out Magazine, provided analysis for the Associated Press, and been a featured guest on National Public Radio (NPR).
Dr. McCutcheon earned his Ph.D. in counseling psychology from NYU and completed his undergraduate studies at Berkeley, where he graduated with honors and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
