Applied Psychology

Joseph Feola is a School Counselor at Stuyvesant High School in the New York City Department of Education, an Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Applied Psychology at New York University, and a PhD Candidate in the CACREP-accredited Counseling program at Montclair State University. His dissertation explores the school counseling experiences of transgender and gender-expansive students. Professor Feola has experience in school counseling, clinical mental health counseling, and higher education student affairs. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor in New Jersey, and holds National Certified Counselor and Approved Clinical Supervisor credentials. His prior education includes Educational Specialist and Master of Arts degrees in counseling services from Rider University, and a dual-major Bachelor of Arts degree in English and psychology from Rutgers University. Courses taught at NYU include: Foundations of School Counseling, Professional Orientation and Ethics for School Counseling, Group Dynamics: Theory and Practice, Advanced Lab in Counseling Skills, Practicum in School Counseling, Sexual Decision-Making and Risk-Taking in Adolescence, and The Social Responsibility of Educators (Drug, Alcohol Ed/Child Abuse ID/School Violence/DASA).
