Yettieve (Yetty) Marquez-Santana was born and raised in the South Bronx and is a first-generation college student. She earned her Bachelor of Science at SUNY New Paltz, Master of Arts at Rider University, and her Doctorate of Education at Fordham University. Her dissertation topic was on exploring the career trajectories of women Senior Student Affairs Officers at four-year public institutions. She has worked at New York University for the past 10 years and currently serves as the Assistant Director for the Office of Residential Life & Housing Services since 2015. In this role, she advises the Committee for Diversity and Inclusion and the department’s Staff of Color Network. Prior to her current position, she was a Residence Hall Director at NYU for four years up until her promotion (2011-2015). She previously served in a leadership capacity for four years (2015-2019) for the Professionals of Color Network for ACUHO-I.

She is currently on the Executive Board for ACUHO-I serving as the elected Inclusion and Equity Director. Yetty has served as an adjunct Professor for the NYU Higher Education and Student Affairs program. She has taught “Diversity in Higher Education” and “Social Justice on College Campuses.” Yetty believes in the importance of seeking and embracing professional development opportunities that challenge her to explore critical pedagogy while giving back to the field through her mentorship, professional association involvement, teaching, research, publications, and presentations.
