Janice Lee

Research Analyst II

Janice Lee is a Research Analyst at the Research Alliance for New York City Schools, where she works on a study of New York City’s Computer Science for All initiative. Her primary focus is longitudinal quantitative analysis; however, she believes that hearing people's stories, through qualitative research, is also crucial to creating change.

Before joining the Research Alliance, Janice interned and worked part-time at DoorDash as a backend software engineer on the Geospatial Intelligence team. In this role, she learned the importance of geographic information and data visualization. She also participated in Research Experience for Undergraduates at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where she developed compressed sensing and machine learning optimization algorithms. During her undergraduate education, Janice served as a peer mentor in the Asian American Mentorship Program and worked with Asian Americans Advancing Justice's Health Access program to help develop a documentary about undocumented immigrants’ experiences in the healthcare system. Janice is interested in exploring what computational thinking means, how to increase digital and computational literacy in the most equitable manner possible, and how to build scalable systems of support in public education for those who are most in need.

Janice holds a BA in computer science from Pomona College.
