Meet Your 2023-24 Student Leaders

Peer Mentors are current NYU Steinhardt students who help new students with their transition to college life. During NYU Welcome, Peer Mentors host programming, and in the fall, they will co-facilitate New Student Seminar with departmental instructors.

Before starting your studies, see NYU Steinhardt through their eyes via Instagram. Once you activate your NYU email, you'll be added to your department's Google Group. This message board is where you can get fast answers to your questions about registration and student life in your specific department. 

Applied Psychology

Dayana Orr

Dayana Orr is a rising junior majoring in Applied Psychology and pursuing minors in American Sign Language and Teacher Education. In the fall, she will also be the president of NYU’s ASL Club, and is overall super excited to welcome the incoming Class of 2027!

 

 

 

Elizabeth Zeck

Elizabeth Zeck is a rising junior majoring in Applied Psychology and pursuing minors in Sociology and Teaching Education. She was born in Shanghai and loves the big city vibes of New York. Feel free to ask her any questions about either cities or psychology related material. Elizabeth has expressed such joyous excitement in meeting you all! Don’t be shy and say hi if you see her on campus!

 

 

 

Jevonnaye BaronJevonnaye Baron is a rising senior majoring in Applied Psychology and pursuing a minor in Food Studies. She loves trying new foods and meeting new people. She’ll tell you anything you want to know about what’s going on around campus, so ask her anything! You are sure to find her with an airpod in, but always feel welcome to approach her and say hi!

 

 


Lea BurgosLea Burgos is a rising sophomore in the Applied Psychology program who also plans to minor in Law and Society. She is a Dominican first-generation college student, and is always available to talk about finding belongingness as a first-gen student at NYU. She is beyond excited to meet and welcome the class of 2027!

 

 


Rose BechaydaRose Bechayda is a rising junior in Applied Psychology. She is a Spring 2023 transfer. She was born and raised in Saipan. She is Filipino, fluent in Tagalog, and is a first generation college immigrant student. She loves making playlists, playing guitar, photography, the ocean, coffee, boba, and reading. Please always feel free to say hi, she loves meeting new people!

 

 


Tiana ElaviaTiana Elavia is a rising sophomore majoring in Applied Psychology. She was born and raised in India and moved to New Jersey in her junior year of high school. Tiana also studied abroad this past semester in Sydney. In her free time, Tiana loves trying out new food and coffee around the city, shopping, finding free events and pop-ups offering goodies, baking, working-out, and going on long walks. She is super excited to meet the incoming Class of 2027 and welcome them into NYU!

 

 

Art and Art Professions

Gabe GalperGabe Galper is an artist and creator currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at NYU Steinhardt in New York. He is an executive member of the Fine Arts Society, works at a ceramics studio in Williamsburg, and is excited to figure out what he will do after university.

 

 

Oscar Garay

Oscar Garay is an LA born artist currently studying at NYU. He is a Studio Art major and plans to continue his studio art practice after college. He currently enjoys going to see galleries and museums in NYC, trying new restaurants, and going out and exploring the city. Oscar also enjoys watching basketball, hip-hop dancing, and music.

 

 

Communicative Sciences and Disorders


Marcela LaraMarcela Lara is a rising senior studying Global Public Health and Communicative Sciences and Disorders. She is a research assistant at the Biofeedback Intervention technology for Speech (BITS) lab and is involved in NSSLHA and Literacy Matters at NYU, which are two on campus clubs. She is excited to meet the incoming class of 2027 and welcome the new CSD students!

 

 

 

Education Studies


Citlalli AlvaradoCitlalli Alvarado is a rising senior in Education Studies and minoring in Social & Public Policy. Her favorite hobbies include taking long walks around the city, listening to music, watching horror movies, and spending as much as she can with friends and family.

 

 


Calypso RallisCalypso Rallis is a rising Senior majoring in Education Studies, pursuing a double-major in Journalism and a minor in History. She was born in Athens but grew up in Paris and Brussels. Her favorite things to do include exploring New York City, discovering new music, and decorating her apartment.

 

 

 

Media, Culture and Communication


Annie YangAnnie Yang is a rising senior majoring in Media, Culture, and Communication with a minor in Business Studies and Psychology. She is an international student from China. During her free time, she enjoys hiking, freediving and traveling.

 

 

 

Anyka ChakravartyAnyka Chakravarty is a sophomore majoring in Media, Culture and Communication and minoring in Spanish. She grew up in Dubai. In her free time, you can find her reading, baking or drinking an iced latte. 

 

 

 


Armaan GuptaArmaan Gupta is a sophomore double majoring in Media, Culture, and Communication and Politics with a minor in Law and Society. He was born and raised in Montclair, New Jersey. When he is not at the library, he spends his time watching movies, giving tours to prospective students as an NYU Admissions Ambassador, or helping facilitate club culture at the BIPOC Legal Society.

 

 

 

Claudia FernandezClaudia Fernández is a senior majoring in Media, Culture and Communication and minoring in French Studies. Claudia was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In her spare time, Claudia is the Vice President of the Puerto Rican Student Association and can be found in a nearby coffee shop or bookstore.

 

 

 


Ella LondonoElla Londoño is a sophomore majoring in Media, Culture, and Communication and minoring in Business of Entertainment, Media, and Technology. At NYU, she is an active member of Comm Club and Program Board’s concert committee and loves exploring what the city has to offer.

 

 

 

Luca RichmanLuca Richman is a senior majoring in Media, Culture, and Communication with a minor in French Studies. Originally from northern New Jersey, Luca is eager to meet with members of Steinhardt’s Class of 2027 and help them get immersed in all things NYU and New York City.

 

 


Ray SunRay Sun is a rising senior majoring in Media, Culture, and Communication with a minor in the Business of Entertainment, Media, and Technology. He is an international student from Hefei China and a commuting student living in Jersey City. Ray is delighted to welcome the incoming Class of 2027 home at NYU Steinhardt!

 

 


Victor TengVictor Teng is a junior double-majoring in Journalism and Media, Culture, and Communication. He is from Ithaca, New York and loves hiking and skiing. He hope to be a lawyer and is a member of Pi Delta Psi on campus.

 

 

 

Music and Performing Arts Professions


Aidan MailleyAidan Mailley is a rising sophomore majoring in Music Business. He was born and raised in Washington DC and loves playing guitar and bass and performing all over New York City.

 

 

 


Debra AmataDebra Amata is a rising-sophomore and Steinhardt Dean’s Global Honors Student at NYU who hails from the twin island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Debra is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s of Music in Woodwind Studies with a secondary major in Mathematics

 

 


Emma ValerioEmma Valerio is a rising junior studying Educational Theatre and History, originally from Italy and currently calling Stamford, CT home! She’s involved in theatre, arts, and activism clubs on campus, and loves old lady-ish crafts like knitting and embroidery.

 

 

 


Joey FarrellJoey Farrell is a junior majoring in Music Technology and minoring in Computer Science as well as a RnB and rock producer/guitarist. In the past year, he has delved into 5.1 surround sound mixing and hardware design, and he plans to pursue a master’s degree in these fields.

 

 


Kalsey ColotlKalsey Colotl is a rising junior in Music Technology, and is working towards a minor in East Asian Studies. She is a commuter student from NJ and enjoys working in live sound.

 

 

 


M HolthamM Holtham is a rising senior majoring in cello performance at Steinhardt, who also happens to be a fifth generation New Yorker! Although much of M’s time is filled with practice and rehearsals, they can also be found doing Muay Thai, visiting museums and chilling with their cat, Scout.

 


Maya HarrisonMaya Harrison is a rising senior in NYU Steinhardt’s Jazz Studies program. She is a California native and loves to listen to and play many genres of music like Indie, Folk, & Rock, as well as Jazz.

 

 

 


Toby CherneskyToby Chernesky is a rising sophomore in the Vocal Performance Program with a concentration in Music Theater, and minors in French and BEMT. From Flemington NJ, Toby works in the Steinhardt Costume Shop, is a member of the Vocaholics a capella group, and is a cat lover, Nintendo gamer, disco fan, and bedazzling enthusiast who loves performing at local venues with friends as much as he can!

 

 

Ariana JonesAriana Jones is a rising sophomore majoring in Vocal Performance with a concentration in Contemporary pursuing a minor in Business. She was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia and loves performing and sharing her original songs.

 

 

 

 

Nutrition and Food Studies

Sabrina HongSabrina Hong is a sophomore majoring in Nutrition and Food Studies with a concentration in Food Studies, and pursuing a minor in Business Studies. She was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan. She deeply enjoys exploring restaurants around the city, cooking, crocheting and golfing.

 

 


Samantha LeeSamantha Lee is a junior majoring in Nutrition and Food Studies with a concentration in Nutrition and Dietetics. She was born and raised in the Boston suburbs, and her favorite hobbies include drawing, listening to music, and creative writing.

 

 

 

Teaching and Learning

Ashley WulffAshley Wulff is a rising junior majoring in Childhood and Special Education and minoring in American Sign Language. She was born and raised in Hicksville, NY and commutes to NYU now. Ashley loves meeting new people and is looking forward to getting to know the class of 2027! 

 

 

 

 

Edgar LaraEdgar Lara is a rising sophomore majoring in Early Childhood & Special Education. He enjoys all things fun, but won’t stray away from a good nap. He is incredibly excited to be a welcoming figure to the upcoming class of 2027, but until then, he will sleep like there is no tomorrow. 

 

 

 


Helen ChoiHelen Choi is a rising junior majoring in Chemistry Education and minoring in Social Entrepreneurship. She grew up in São Paulo and Los Angeles. She loves listening to music, playing golf, and exploring around NYC. Helen is super excited to meet and welcome new students to the T&L and NYU community!

 

 


Tali DardashtianTali Dardashtian is a rising third-year student from Long Island, studying Childhood & Special Education at NYU Steinhardt, with a minor in Psychology. She enjoys music, writing, community service, and social engagement, and is very passionate about education and working with kids. With her continued involvement in the NYU Steinhardt and Bronfman communities, Tali is looking forward to meeting new students and contributing to the supportive safe space on campus.
