This experiential learning course explores the ways in which politics, migration, and education intersect in Italy and Western Europe more broadly. Participants will learn through discussions with local practitioners and site visits to organizations that are run by and support asylum seekers, refugees, and migrants in Italy, as well as guest speakers, lectures, and in-class discussions. The group will meet with colleagues who work for international/local aid, education, and rights organizations as well as colleagues in the midst of displacement/resettlement. Students will cultivate their interview, observation, and analysis skills throughout the course.
