Steinhardt's Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions is taking the summer off!  Our acclaimed Summer Programs and Workshops won’t be offered in 2024 as we plan for more compelling and varied offerings in 2025 and beyond.  Sign up to receive information on Summer 2025 as soon as it's available.

The NYU Summer Recording & Production Workshop is designed for rising high school juniors and seniors who play a musical instrument or sing and have an interest in music production and recording. Students will have access to exclusive instruction materials and current programs and tools used to create music both at home and in the recording studio, including Logic and ProTools. Students in this workshop will focus on all aspects of classic and contemporary music production. While exploring both the technical and artistic processes inherent to creating music, students will work with faculty and guests to create original music collaboratively in NYU’s state of the art recording facility. Students will become familiar with the basic elements of studio recording, editing, and mixing techniques along with participating in live recording and mixing sessions. The workshop will also offer weekly special guests from the NYU recording and artist community.
