David J. Baldwin is an Adjunct Professor of Voice at NYU Steinhardt. He holds an Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from NYU Steinhardt, a Master’s Degree in Performance Studies from Bowling Green State University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Taylor University.
David has performed roles with local opera companies including Opera on Tap, DiCapo Opera, New York Opera Exchange, and Martina Arroyo’s Prelude to Performance. He sang the role of Tiresias in Bard Music Festival’s production of Stravinsky’s Oedipus Rex, and made his NYC Fringe Festival debut as James Otis in The Boston Tea Party Opera.
He is also grateful to have performed with the The Metropolitan Opera Chorus (including the Grammy-Award-winning production of Wagner’s Ring Cycle), The American Symphony Orchestra, The Bard Festival Chorale, Chicago Symphony Chorus, and Chicago Lyric Opera Chorus.
David is also a Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach, passionate about integrating knowledge of the body and the voice. He is a Singing Athlete Level 3 Certified Teacher, and continues Voice study with Dr. Brian Gill and Andrew Byrne. He continues his acting training with Patrick Page Studio and Matthew Corozine Studio.
