Miriam Roskin Berger Makes Forbes 50 Over 50 List

NYU's Miriam Roskin Berger named in Forbes 50 Over 50

The Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions congratulates Miriam Roskin Berger for her inclusion in the 2023 Forbes 50 OVER 50 list. Dr. Berger, the former Director of the Steinhardt Dance Education program (1993–2002), is currently an adjunct faculty member in the program.

Dr. Berger received the ADTA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007; was inducted into the Dance Library of Israel Hall of Fame in 2005; received the Marian Chace Award for fostering the international growth of dance therapy in 2002; and was the recipient of the Charles Kellogg Award in Arts and Letters from Bard College in 2009. Bard also awarded her an Honorary Doctorate in 2021.

Recognized in the dance community as a pioneer of dance therapy, she combines movement and psychotherapy to improve emotional and physical well-being.

"I am thrilled that Dr. Berger is acknowledged for her many years of leadership, mentoring, and scholarship," said Program in Dance Education Director Deborah Damast. "I was fortunate to be able to learn from Dr. Berger at NYU and have witnessed the countless dance educators and therapists that have benefitted from her knowledge, expertise, and kindness. This is a much deserved honor. "
