Students from the NYU Steinhardt Brass Studies program were featured performers at the White House Historical Association’s biennial Gala, held on Thursday, November 6, at The Temple of Dendur in The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The event marked the public launch of the Association’s $150 million fundraising effort to support White House history and civics education through curriculum development, teacher programs, digital storytelling, and expanded student access.
The Gala celebrated 150 years of White House State Dinners through historic culinary inspiration, special performances, and remarks, with Al Roker serving as host. Documentary filmmaker Ken Burns received the White House History Honors for his extraordinary impact on making American history accessible and engaging for audiences of all ages.
Entertainment included Renée Fleming, Michael Feinstein, and Patti LaBelle. As the Association’s premier fundraising event, the Gala supports its mission—established by First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy in 1961—to preserve, protect, and share the history of the Executive Mansion.
