State Authorization
The State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) is a voluntary agreement among member states and US territories that establishes one set of national standards and regulations for offering postsecondary distance education courses and programs. For the purposes of SARA, experiential learning activities such as student teaching, internships, fieldwork, and clinical placements are considered distance education. A list of participating states and territories, and other detailed information about state authorization at NYU, is available on the NYU State Authorization website.
To the extent that NYU Steinhardt is restricted from offering a program in certain states due to professional licensing restrictions, NYU will identify such restrictions on the appropriate program link, which we have included in the next section.

Where required to make such determination, NYU has included the disclosures on the listed program web pages. We encourage you to read these disclosures carefully and please contact the program contacts with any questions.
