TWO REMAIN, an opera by Jake Heggie and Gene Scheer, is based, in part, on the two survivors of Auschwitz and the memories that haunt them. Krystyna Zywulska, a Polish dissident, author and lyricist, and Gad Beck, a Jewish homosexual, relive the horrors of Nazi brutality in this beautifully realized work which began as a song cycle for Music of Remembrance.
