Post-Baccalaureate Advanced Certificate, Bilingual Education

The 15 credit Post-BA in Bilingual Education prepares certified teachers to expand on their current areas of expertise into bilingual education. Blending comprehensive coursework with hands-on experiential learning, this degree prepares you for a diverse array of career opportunities as a teacher, researcher, curriculum developer, and administrator in domestic and international education. 

Core Course Sequence & Electives 

The post-BA coursework blends foundational instruction in the theory and practice of multilingual education with advanced analysis of the impacts of globalization, intercultural perspectives on language learning, and hands-on classroom practice via student teaching. The program culminates in a capstone project that represents a new contribution to the field of second language acquisition. You’ll also have the opportunity to take elective classes in areas like international bilingual education, linguistics, and language evaluation and assessment.

This program consists of five courses and an internship. The instructors are full- and part-time faculty members in Steinhardt's Multilingual Multicultural Studies program, who are experienced professionals in the field.

Courses are offered throughout the fall and spring semesters (selective electives are available in summer semester). Students may complete the program in two or more semesters.
