Maggie Helena Balslev Bisgaard
Are you from the NYC area? If not, where are you originally from?
I am from Aalborg, Denmark.
What drew you to NYU's OT program?
I was attracted to NYU's post-professional OT program because of its multicultural cohort. I aimed to enhance my academic skills in OT while broadening my horizons beyond the homogeneous culture I was accustomed to in Denmark. Additionally, the program's diverse selection of elective courses, particularly in pediatrics, intrigued me.
To date, what has been your favorite classroom experience from your time at NYU OT?
My favorite classroom experience to date was leading a class and teaching my cohort about one of my favorite OT models: the Occupational Therapy Intervention Process Model (OTIPM). Engaging in teaching methods felt deeply meaningful, and I believe I have acquired valuable teaching skills that I can utilize in future seminars, conferences, or wherever my career path leads me.
What is your favorite thing to do in NYC?
My favorite thing about NYC is its diversity! I have learned so much about different cultures and met so many interesting people!
What are you most excited about for the future?
I am eager to see where my new skills acquired through the post-professional MA in OT can be applied. My clinical reasoning has significantly improved, and I look forward to applying it to my future clients' cases.
