Core Course Sequence
In NYU’s unparalleled performing, recording, and practice facilities, you’ll receive one-on-one instruction with NYU Steinhardt's acclaimed artist faculty and engage in myriad solo and collaborative performance opportunities.. You’ll explore coursework in historical and contemporary performance practices and music education, and learn with peers and faculty in The Art of the Piano: Pedagogy and Practice, a two-semester course designed specifically for professional artists and those seeking to advance to studies at the doctoral level. Throughout, you’ll find opportunities to engage with your peers across programs such as Instrumental Performance, Vocal Performance, Jazz, Composition, Dance Education, and Music Technology, accessing a powerful network of artistic inspiration and professional opportunity.
Culminating Experience
You will present a solo recital in your final semester. The recital experience includes a research component that examines performance practice from musicological, historical, or pedagogical perspectives.
