Politics and Policies of Literacy

An examination and critical evaluation of the theories of the reading and writing process as well as related methods of assessment and instruction. Theoretical frameworks are used to identify and respond to individual differences and potential difficulties in developing reading and writing skills and strategies in diverse student populations in the areas of phonemic awareness, phonics, spelling, fluency, vocabulary development, comprehension, study skills, and composing.
