Clinical Anatomy of The Upper Quadrant

This course will enable students to enhance their knowledge of upper extremities, neck, oral, pharyngeal and laryngeal cavities through live video demonstration of gross dissection, live discussion, and student asynchronous class preparation using selected video and other resources. The asynchronous preparation resources will include video enactments of clinical scenarios that are relevant to the synchronous topics dealt with in class.While this is not a treatment course, the participants will discuss the clinical relevance of the anatomical structures to basic clinical problems during live interactions with the professor.

Clinical Case Seminar in Trauma Studies: Transdisciplinary Reappraisals of Clinical Work

The work of mental health clinicians will be the focus of study. The complexity of the clinician’s trauma work will be considered through clinical presentation by clinicians, readings, & discussions. Topics include: the meaning & experience of trauma, interventions in clinical trauma work (such as child abuse, sexual abuse, rape, human trafficking, battering, racism, & war & its aftermath, terrorism & political action); & working with natural disasters. There will be academic autopsies of case material.

Current research for clients struggling with addictions & those involved in judicial proceedings will be shared. Clinical Management II: Nerve Disorders/Upper

Essential to good clinical practice is the use of treatment strategies to the trajectory of recovery of physical function and ultimately occupational performance. This course will use a seminar, laboratory, and workshop model to explore the intervention processes for hand and upper limb nerve disorders that are traumatic or chronic in nature. This course will address nerve injuries in continuity that frequently present as cumulative trauma disorders between tendon and nerve involvement and the subsequent appropriate intervention strategies.

Clinical Practicum I: Pre-Clinic

This course introduces students to basic concepts of the clinical experience, including diagnostic principles and procedures in CSD. The course builds on working knowledge of information related to a variety of communication disorders and focuses on diagnostic assessment, clinical writing, and clinical materials and equipment. The clinical experience is introduced through weekly seminars, simulated cases, videos, etc. Clinical practicum experiences are supervised by ASHA-certified and state-licensed professionals.

Collecting Fashion Information

This class explores the critical tasks set to librarians, archivists, curators, and collection managers to collect fashion information and to make it accessible to researchers. It looks at the multiple materialities of fashion beyond the dress object, and it considers museum, library, corporate, and personal collections. It asks students to consider: how, when, and by whom fashion information is collected; the institutional and socio-political frameworks that shape collecting; and the historical record of fashion as an object of constant and necessary revision.
