Mary Thorne

Soprano Mary Thorne is an active singer and teacher. Her repertoire includes Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos), Gilda (Rigoletto), Adina (L’Elisir d’Amore), Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), and Adele (Die Fledermaus). Frequently heard in Mozart roles, she has sung Königin der Nacht, Pamina, Papagena (Die Zauberflöte), Susanna, Barbarina (Le Nozze di Figaro), Despina (Così fan tutte), and Mademoiselle Silberklang (The Impresario). She has sung with Winter Opera Saint Louis, Hubbard Hall Opera Theater, Long Island Opera, Bronx Opera, Amore Opera, and New York City Opera.

As a concert soloist, Mary has sung Mozart’s Mass in C Minor with the Richmond Choral Society, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with Simon Sinfonietta of Cape Cod, Orff’s Carmina Burana with New York Choral Society Summer Sings, and Poulenc’s Gloria with Philomusica of New Jersey. She has appeared at Trinity Wall Street Concerts at One, The Greene Space at WQXR, and Weill Recital Hall.

Originally from Washington State, Mary received her BA in music from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, her MM from Mannes School of Music, and her DMA from the City University of New York Graduate Center. Mary teaches voice and musicianship at The Diller-Quaile School of Music and maintains a private studio. She has trained in Dalcroze Eurhythmics and is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and the American Guild of Musical Artists.
