Deborah A Allsbrook

Deborah Allsbrook, PhD, LPC-S, NCC is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and National Certified Counselor who has over 17 years clinical experience and has been an adjunct instructor with the online master’s in counseling for mental health and wellness program at New York University Steinhardt since the Spring of 2018. Dr. Allsbrook has also previously been an instructor with the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and lectured internationally as a doctoral student co-instructor at the University of Malta, Valletta campus. She currently maintains a private practice in the Greater New Orleans area where in addition to her clinical work she supervises Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselors (PLPCs) seeking licensure in the state of Louisiana. Dr. Allsbrook’s clinical work has been with diverse client populations who present with issues ranging from mood and thought disorders to trauma and grief. She has worked in a variety of settings, including as the lead therapist of an Adult Psychiatric Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Program where she provided services to active-duty military members as well as the general community, as a mobile crisis counselor evaluating clients in the emergency room, and as a counselor in a community agency providing counseling services to Federal inmates transitioning home. Her professional experiences further include presenting in the mental health community on topics such as suicide prevention, grief, the use of technology in counselor education and supervision and moral injury in the military population, which was the topic of her dissertation qualitative study. Dr. Allsbrook was the 2021-2022 president of the Louisiana Military and Government Counseling Association and the 2017-2018 president of the Alpha Eta chapter of Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society International. In 2021, she served as a mentor in the American Counseling Association Mentorship Program for Early Professional Counselors.
