Shannon O'Neill Fonseca

Shannon O’Neill Fonseca (she/her/ella) is a Research Assistant with the Policy, Research, and Evaluation team at the NYU Metro Center. She has a background in organizing, school-based research, mental health advocacy, and social justice. She is a leader with the Bronx Healing-Centered Schools Working Group; a collaborative created to foster healing-centered and culturally responsive practices in education.
Shannon is completing her BA in Psychology at Hunter College with a research focus in childhood development and culturally responsive education for dual language learners. She is particularly interested in examining how social and cultural factors impact access to education, student mental health, and overall academic achievement.
Born and raised in Costa Rica, she now lives in NYC.
