Media, Culture, and Communication

Jiwon Woo received a Master in Design Engineering from Harvard University - the Graduate School of Design (GSD) and the John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS), and a Master of Fine Arts in Emerging Design Practices from the University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design. She holds a BA in Computer Science and Media Arts from Wellesley College.

Woo has extensive experience in both industry and academia. She integrates human-centered design methods and data-driven analysis to solve complex problems and collaboratively build unprecedented products that substantially improve people's lives. Prior to NYU Woo was a Lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania teaching courses in Design and Digital Culture, a researcher at MIT Design Lab, and also a design and marketing specialist at Ginkgo Bioworks.

Woo’s individual and collaborative works have been awarded as the finalist for Harvard President’s Innovation Challenge, National Hall of Fame’s Collegiate Inventors Competition, Prix Ars Electronica, and Bio Art and Design Award. Her works have been exhibited internationally in venues including Milan Design Week, London Design Week, Ars Electronica, Victoria and Albert’s Museum, Medical Museion, and more.
